(Kolkata, India) Antar-Rashtriya Sahayog Parishad, ARSP -West Bengal supported by the Ayush Darpan Foundation will organize a two day conference titled- “Ayurveda as a medicine system to address contemporary health challenges in an effective, efficient, affordable and holistic way- Perspectives on Policy and Practice.”

The West Bengal Chapter of ARSP was established in 1980 under the leadership of the-then Secretary General late Shri Baleshwar Agrawal. ARSP is a non-profit, non-governmental and non-political society which works to strengthen international cooperation with an aim to keep close interaction with people of Indian origin from all over the world. The founders were of the view that India, as an ancient culture and civilization, with spirituality as its foundation stone, must spread its concept of `Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam’-the world is one family.

Whereas, the Ayush Darpan Foundation, ADF, was specifically established to conduct research, develop programmes and advocate the cause of Ayurveda in policy and decision-making processes in the institutional, medical and governance set ups to ensure that Ayurvedic principles and practices are strengthened and applied equally to all. ADF’s team gained global recognition when in the year 2016 it played an important role to conduct world’s first surgery without the use of antibiotics. In a widely reported and unprecedented “first of its kind in the world” experiment, a group of doctors and surgeons successfully operated upon an 83-year-old man removing a massive 240 gm of prostate, solely based on the principles of Ayurveda in Meerut, India.

The conference will be held in the city of Kolkata on 23 and 24 December 2017 and will explore Ayurveda, the Swadeshi system of medicine which is also the bedrock of other traditional medicinal systems across the world like the Chinese, Greek, Tibetan etc. and the important role it can play to address the contemporary health challenges of the country.

Traditional medicinal systems have an immense potential to deliver health and wellness to peoples, and have been utilized by countries like China in a very effective manner. In fact, Tu Youyou of China won the 2011 Lasker Award and the 2015 Nobel Prize for medicine for the extraction artemisinin, an anti-malarial drug from a herb used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

As per the UN WHO report, in the year 2001 in China, traditional medicines accounted for 30% to 50% of the total consumption and 95% of general hospitals had units for traditional Chinese medicine. There were 170 top quality research institutions across the country and over 600 manufacturing bases to manufacture traditional Chinese medicine. In addition 13,000 central farms specialized in the production of materials for traditional medicines had 340,000 farmers who cultivate medicinal plants and the total planting area for medicinal herbs was 348,000 acres.

In comparison, the healthcare market in India which is estimated to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 23% from 2015 to 2020, and to be a $280 billion market by 2020 will only have $8 billion of Ayurvedic products, a mere 2.8% share.

The scheduled conference on Ayurveda in Kolkata shall provide a platform both to the practitioners of Ayurveda and policy makers of the country to interact, and find ways to mainstream the use of Ayurveda to deliver holistic health solutions to the citizens of the country in an effective, efficient and affordable manner. It will also have a participation of some of the leading policy makers and experts of Ayurveda both from India and abroad.

Among others, Padmashri Vaidya Balendu Prakash known for his works in Chronic Pancreatitis, Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia, Migraine etc., renowned expert of Marma Chikitsa and Director of Rishikul, Haridwar Prof. Sunil Joshi, Co-founder of Ayush Darpan Foundation Dr. Navin Joshi M.D. who is also credited with creating the database of herbs found in the Himalayas and are used in Ayurveda, Dr. Premchand Boojhawon, President of Human Service Trust and Mahatma Gandhi Ayurved Hospital, Mauritius; renowned expert of Tibetan medicine Dr. Jamyang Dolma from Men Tse Khang; Dr. A.K.S. Rawat, Former Head of the Pharmacognosy & Ethnopharmacology Division of the National Botanical Research Institute-CISR Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, who developed BGR-34, blood glucose regulator with 34 natural ingredients which is now being produced and marketed by AIMIL Pharmaceuticals to control Diabetes, will address the conference. There shall also be experts on Ayurveda from Nepal and Bhutan, and a significant attendance of the international diplomatic community.

Shri Shripad Naik, Hon’ble Minsiter of AYUSH, Government of India and Sh. Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Hon’ble Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Government of India will also address the conference. The conference organized by the Antar-Rashtriya Sahyog Parishad, ARSP- West Bengal is also being supported by the Kolkata Chamber of Commerce.

    Respected Singhania Saheb,
Have you heard about my pH theory of Diabetes Mellitus?
99% doctors from Modern medical science, Ayurveda & Homeopathy don’t know the real causes of the origin of diabetes mellitus. Their treatments are based on the faith that Diabetes is Madhumeh and years have passed but not a single patient has been cured by them.
I have propounded a theory which reveals the radical causes of the origin of Diabetes mellitus, known as “My pH Theory of Diabetes Mellitus.
    I have propagated -” डायबिटीज मधुमेह नहीं है रक्तमधु है।”

If you & your committee members want to help in eradicating this fatal disease – DIABETES from our beloved country, can organize my lecture as the chief orator in your program.
    Thanking you,

He propuesto una teoría que revela las causas radicales del origen de la diabetes mellitus, conocida como “Mi pH teoría de la diabetes mellitus”.
    He propagado – “डायबिटीज मधुमेह नहींक क रहै्तमधु है.”
